Can your business withstand a crisis?

A business connection of mine recently posted about an experience he had when his company was the victim of an arson attack.

Damage to the building, stock and equipment was extensive and the company’s future was left hanging in the balance.

Luckily, no one was hurt. But the company soon realised that it had lost critical information due to its information systems and crisis management plan being out of date.

Some 12 months later, the company is just now getting back on track albeit with a renewed focus on crisis management.

In his post, he urged other companies to determine what will disrupt their business and to manage the risks of them occurring.

The truth is, we tend to avoid thinking about potential disasters, as we are so caught up in running our day-to-day operations.

But this summer all Australians got a timely reminder about how disaster can strike at any time.

As of mid-January, bushfires have burnt an estimated 18.6 million hectares, destroying almost 6,000 buildings and killing over 30 people.

The monetary cost of the bushfires is still being calculated, but it is expected to exceed A$4 billion.

Putting out compliance fires with a world-class DMS

So what does all this talk of fires have to do with document management?

Well, although you most definitely cannot prevent an arson attack or bushfire from destroying your business, something you do have control over is how you protect your data.

Through effective document management, you can eliminate your reliance on physical, on-premise stores of information.

By shifting your processes to the cloud, you can ensure that your critical data will be available, secure, and intact no matter what happens.

At Docuworx, we can help you achieve this goal by providing you with DocuWare, a world-leading document management system (DMS) and workflow solution.

As Australia’s only Platinum DocuWare Reseller, Docuworx can give you peace of mind as you take your first steps in your digital transformation.

Disaster or not, you simply cannot afford to fall behind with regards to the management of your documents and critical information.

According to research by the International Data Corporation, three out of four companies suffered severe consequences due to poor document processes. Broken down further, they reported the following issues:

  • 2% failed to meet compliance requirements
  • 2% lost key employees
  • 9% lost major customers
  • 8% had a major IT breach
  • 4% were pulled into a major audit
  • 1% suffered a major PR crisis

Even if you already have a strong risk management framework, you can improve compliance by using DocuWare to build workflows into your DMS.

These workflows are rule-based and will ensure that your employees follow each step correctly before moving onto the next task.
